Tahina Awan is an Indo-Canadian actor and writer from Vancouver, BC, last seen onstage in Life’s A Drag – an original comedic work with The Assembly, an all-female troupe of clowns. In 2017, Tahina produced the documentary, Maker of Monsters: The Life of Beau Dick, for the CBC, and has since been creating and acting in her own short films. With a BFA in Visual Art from SFU, Tahina Awan has trained as an actor for over twenty-five years in physical theatre, Commedia mask, Pochinko clown and the body centered acting approach of Jerzy Grotowski. Tahina has acted in many plays, contemporary and classical period, performed comedy with Vancouver Theatresports and has an active voice over career. Tahina’s focus on the actor’s practices of embodiment have led her to explore the intersection between arts and healing personally and professionally as she was employed by Fraser Health as part of an arts team that worked with individuals with mental health challenges in addictions recovery. Tahina is currently developing an original one woman clown based play as well as teaching Voice and Movement at Vancouver Film School.
