Dance/Movement Therapy for The Adult Journey (online course Fall 2023)

This is a unique online 30 hour (2 credit, ADTA Alt Route Approved course) that supports students of Dance Therapy or registered Clinicians (Counsellors, Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychotherapists or others working in the mental health field) with the knowledge, understanding and techniques/methods to integrate more embodiment and movement into their practices of psychotherapy. This is evidence based, somatic, culturally informed work, that supports clients to have choice as per trauma-informed practice protocols. The benefits of DMT are manifold and movement is essential in human expression and development and healing.

It is ideal if students have some understanding of somatics and dance therapy prior to taking this course, but it is not necessarily required depending on the practitioners background. We are happy to share the course Syllabus with you upon request (copyright The Movement Arc).

Instructors: Hana Kamea Kemble, BC-DMT, RCC, CLMA, and Tannis Hugill, RCC, BC-DMT, RDT, etc. (Both instructors have over 50 years combined experience in the field, with additional training in other forms of psychotherapy also specific to trauma healing, addictions recovery, eating disorder treatment, grief, anxiety, and experience with a host of other clinical issues). Both teachers are supervisors and teachers of Dance/Movement Therapy.

Dates: Oct 6, 13, 20 and 27 / Nov 3, 10, 17 and 24 (2023)

Time: FRIDAYS 9:30am-12:30pm Pacific Time Zone

Fees: $1000.00 plus $50 GST – $1050.00 (14 student limit) Deposit of $500.00 required before Sept 1, full payment due by Sept 15, 2023. Credit card, Etransfer, PayPal all welcome.

Online using Zoom: All classes will be recorded (but not publicly published, respecting the confidentiality of our students), with a make-up class planned if needed (if instructor ill on any given date) on Friday Dec 1, 2023.
