Welcome to the Expressive Movement Facilitator 250 hour ISMETA approved training program! You made it! Take a moment to move your body in a celebratory way! 🙂
In this training we explore somatic and expressive movement, dance and embodiment through a developmental, physical , social-emotional, relational and community development lens. We prepare you to become a skilled somatic movement facilitator, with skills that can be applied to your current professional practice, or perhaps you are shaping a new offering.
You will learn how to use dance, movement and somatic embodiment practices in a range of applications for different ages, needs and facilitation goals. Whether you are a yoga, dance or movement teacher/facilitator, therapist, or healthcare professional this professional development training provides tools and skills to integrate into your practice.
Expressive Movement engages creativity to support people to connect with and bring their inner world into outer form and into connection with others. Overall we view EMF as a wellness practice that engages body awareness and movement in order to increase well-being, self-understanding, embodiment and connection. You will also find yourself making up your own definition and bringing your own creativity to what EMF becomes for you.
We have a very unique program with teachers each with a unique and in depth background in this field. We honour our many teachers and the lineages from which we come. We all teach differently but with a shared vision for our students’ learning and group dynamic. Let us know if you have unique learning needs or requests, and we will do our best to accommodate.
There are 7 Courses that you will move through this next 10 months.
- Foundations of EMF
- Human Movement Experiencing and Observation
- Methods, Approaches and Themes for EMF

There are some post or pre-class assignments at times, as well as assignments you will lead in person during class. You will notice these in LearnDash and be able to upload them if a video or written assignment within LearnDash. Please reach out to info@themovementarc.com if you have any questions. We are here to help and guide!
Here are a few things to know about and read up on as you begin the program:
- MISSED CLASS MAKE UP POLICY_EMF This outlines what to do if you find yourself sick or for any other unforseen reason having to miss a class. It is important that you track any missed time and ensure it falls under the 20% of live online classes threshold, otherwise you will need to arrange a special plan with the program director, which may include a repeat of classes in the following EMF year’s program. If you miss time during an intensive, that will need to be made up as well, so read up so you are familiar with each scenario.
- HEALTH AND ILLNESS POLICY Guidelines_EMF for the EMF Program; these include our policy (as also written on the website) for when people are at intensives and might become ill. Let us know if you have any questions!
