Hours: 12 week series (offered in Spring April-June and Fall Sept-Nov)
Location: LIVE ONLINE USING ZOOM
Time: Monday nights 6-7pm Pacific Time Zone (9-10 EST)
Instructor: Instructors are members of The Movement Arc’s teaching staff.
These 1 hour long classes are open to the general public and anyone with an interest and curiosity about somatic movement practices. Each week we will focus on different “Bartenieff Fundamentals” (principles of movement) and a different part or region of the body (for example the feet, pelvis-hips, spine, heart etc) exploring self-touch for tactile stimulation, opening our range of physical movement and sensing through experiential anatomy the functional as well as expressive movement capacity of each of these body areas. We will also be learning the Basic Six plus 2 of Irmgaard Bartenieff’s body movement floor work exercises.
Once registered, we will send you a weekly recurring Zoom link.
These classes are fun, creative, and enlivening! They are designed to awaken your sense of connectedness through your body and support neuromuscular integration as well as capacity to develop your interception (feeling/mapping the inside of your body). We also explore improvisation originating in our connection to our bodies.
If you are reading this and a class series has started, we can still possibly welcome you into the class, please CONTACT US by clicking on the red CONTACT US button above on website. Thank you! We hope to see you soon in class.

(NOTE For Expressive Movement Facilitator program students, these somatic movement classes will be followed by a half hour tutorial/seminar from 7-7:30pm in order to support reflecting from a somatic perspective, and sharing experiences.)
*EMF students need 18hours total of somatic movement class time, either taken in spring or fall, so this means taking 12 classes in either season (as it counts for 1.5hours each class with the added tutorial time).
