This experiential course will introduce participants to the three primary eating disorder diagnoses and their variations (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder) and demonstrate why and how Dance-movement Therapy is an optimally effective treatment approach. Basic DMT principles will be presented and through experiential practices, participants will gain an understanding of their effectiveness to work with the breaches in attachment, histories of trauma, as well as social pressures that cause the body image disturbances, affect dysregulation and isolation inherent in all eating disorders. Attention will be given to working with adolescents, adults, individuals and groups.
